In 2012, Dr Roberto Trotta discovered that the ‘statistical tools’ he had developed to interpret huge volumes of data about the cosmos from probes, telescopes and the large hadron collider could also be used to benefit more organisations.

His advanced statistical methodology has also help identify the fraudulent credit card transactions from the millions that are genuine for the financial sector.
